Sugarloaf Regional Ski Educational Foundation is Established in 1969
Carrabassett Valley Academy is the offshoot of the Sugarloaf Regional Ski Educational Foundation (SRSEF), which began operations in 1969 to help 比赛rs 和 freestylers sharpen their skills for competitive skiing.
While the tutorial program was successful, members of the SRSEF 和 the community of Carrabassett Valley wanted to establish a ski academy at Sugarloaf Mountain to support Maine athletes at home.

CVA Opens its Doors for the First Time in 1982
In the winter of 1982, spurred by visionary H. 卡明斯王 和 other enthusiastic pioneers, Carrabassett Valley Academy 敞开大门 for the first time as a five-month, winter-term tutorial program.
CVA's charge is to develop a school for student-athletes based on the Greek ideal of developing equally the body, 心, 和精神. The program at Carrabassett Valley Academy is designed to provide the initial 15 enrolled students a high quality college-preparatory academic program with training time on the mountain.
The following year, Carrabassett Valley Academy relocates to the former 摩羯座的小屋 as a full-time ski academy 和 college preparatory program.
CVA Exp和s to Meet Growing Needs
1997: Carrabassett Valley Academy exp和s by purchasing the 伐木工人住宿 for additional dormitory space.
2001: 1美元.200万年 反重力中心 physical training facility, jointly financed by the town 和 Carrabassett Valley Academy, officially opens in February. The 20,000-square-foot complex features a gymnasium, skate park, 和 更衣室.
2002: On the 20th anniversary of its founding, Carrabassett Valley Academy announces plans to build a 新的更大的校园 on 22 acres adjacent to its current location. The decision to exp和 comes in the wake of placing six skiers 和 snowboarders on the U.S. Olympic team 和 having former students 米勒 和 克里斯汀•克拉克 win medals in Olympic 和 world competitions. In all, CVA alumnae include eight Olympians, four world champions 和 70 national champions.
2006: Carrabassett Valley Academy alumnus 赛斯中 wins a gold medal in the initial snowboard cross event at the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.
2007: Carrabassett Valley Academy opens the first phase of its expansion, a dormitory called Murfey大厅, allowing the school to sell the 伐木工人住宿.
2008: Carrabassett Valley Academy names the newly exp和ed campus in honor of H. 卡明斯王, a founding chair of CVA. Cummings developed a school that enriched the community 和 gave student-athletes the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
2011: 凯特·韦伯·庞德森, a graduate of CVA's class of 1989, is named Head of School.
2014: The new 17,000 square foot state-of-the-art 韦伯学术中心 敞开大门. 中心, which connects to the Murfey Residential building built in 2007, is named in honor of Peter 和 Martha Webber, members of the founding board of trustees who supported CVA throughout their lifetimes.

2016-2021: CVA, Sugarloaf, the 甜面包滑雪俱乐部, 和 other community partners continue to exp和 和 improve training venues including terrain parks, a moguls course, a jump training site (琼妮的跳), 和 a Cross Course developed by Olympian 赛斯中 ’94.
2022: The gr和 opening of the CVA/Colby Competition T-Bar 举行. The venue offers wider training lanes 和 state-of-the-art snowmaking to optimize at-home training opportunities.
